We will discuss how to set yourself up for career progression, get an edge over your competition and be noticed by the people who will make decisions about your career. An opportunity to get the answers to the burning questions you’re afraid to ask!

Commissioner Elisabeth Espinosa

COMMISSIONER ELISABETH ESPINOSA is a current Commissioner of the Land & Environment Court NSW, she was appointed in 2020.  Commissioner Espinosa graduated with a Bachelor Arts/ Law (Hons), from University of Wollongong in 1995, then received her Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law. She went on in 2016 to graduate from the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2016. In 2019, she held the position of President of the NSW Law Society. Commissioner Espinosa is dedicated to the rule of law, integrity in the legal profession and inclusion in all areas of legal practice.   

MIRIAM MAKI is currently a Senior Advisor to the Minister for Industry and Science, the Hon Ed Husic MP. Prior to that she was a Senior Lawyer specialising in Commercial Litigation at Clayton Utz. She is a strong advocate for greater diversity within the legal profession and has held positions including President of the Muslim Legal Network NSW and member of Diverse Women in Law. Miriam has used her fluency in Arabic to assist Arabic speaking survivors of domestic abuse with their victims support claims on a probono basis. She was also on the proBono working group for the Uluṟu Statement from the Heart. Miriam is known to volunteer her time to mentor students and young lawyers, especially those from underrepresented groups. She has held several leadership positions including on the board of peak youth services provider, the Multicultural Youth Affairs Network NSW, where she was chairperson for six years. She is an elected committee member of NSW Labor Lawyers and sits on the future leaders for gender equality advisory group.
