The Share Care subcommittee advocates for equal and shared parenting; family-friendly gender equal workplaces; and initiatives to remove distinctions between ‘primary’ and ‘secondary’ carers as well as gender stereotypes associated with parenting.

In 2020, the Sharecare subcommittee intends to:

  1. commence a major research project investigating parental leave and flexible work in law firms and major corporations operating in New South Wales and contribute to law reform in this area;
  2. build and develop a leading electronic library of resources to support lawyers on their journey as parents and team members of parents; and
  3. arrange events examining the financial and opportunity costs of being a parent, including the costs of childcare, the superannuation gap, applicable tax benefits and career progression.
