2005 Queen's Birthday honours: Congratulations to The Hon. Justice Jane Mathews! A long term member and supporter of WLANSW, Her Honour was awarded the Order of Australia - Officer in the General Division (AO) for service to the judiciary, to the legal profession, to the University of New South Wales, and to music.

The NSW Bar Association has pioneered an in-home child care scheme to assist barristers with young children meet their court and conference commitments in an emergency. The scheme is being extended to solicitors, paralegals and staff of barristers and all are encouraged to attend this seminar to find out about the programme and how it can be of benefit. Registration is not required.

Sex Discrimination Commissioner’s project: Striking the Balance With Work and Family Sex Discrimination Commissioner Pru Goward will launch the discussion paper in Sydney on Wednesday 22 June 2005. The discussion paper represents the first stage of the Commission's Paid Work and Family Responsibilities project and will be available from the Commission's website following the launch www.humanrights.gov.au
