Career Intentions Survey

Pilot testing for the Women Lawyers’ Association of NSW (WLANSW) Career Intentions Survey commenced August 2012, with a summary report of findings released at the launch event 11th April 2013.Please click here to view the Photo Gallery from the event. Please click here to view the Report. Despite an increasing number of women undertaking legal studies, there still remains a disappointingly small number of women reaching senior positions in all sectors of law and business. The Women Lawyers’ Association of NSW (WLANSW) Career Intentions Survey is the first study in Australia with the capacity to measure and address the effectiveness of initiatives targeting diversity, retention of talent, and leadership in the legal profession. 1,403 law graduates from all university law schools and the College of Law in NSW participated in the survey. 61% proposed to practise as a lawyer, 28% were not sure whether to practise as a lawyer and 11% did not intend to practise as a lawyer.

The Career Intentions Survey Final Report was launched on 30th July 2015 at the Union University & Schools Club Sydney, with sponsors, distinguished guests, members and colleagues.
