Sub-committee:
Welcome to the Law: Sub-Co Chair: Arielle,
Description of Sub-co:
Welcome to the Law sub-committee is focused on the advancement and upskilling of law students and lawyers between 0-4 years’ experience. Since the inception of the Welcome to the Law program in 2018, this subcommittee has run a number of seminars aimed at upskilling lawyers on a range of topics from written & oral advocacy, emotional intelligence, mentoring, business development, Court & Tribunal etiquette to name a few. It has also been a great opportunity for peer-networking. The subcommittee aims to reach the wide and ever-changing face of 0-4 year lawyers
The seminars see seasoned lawyers from varied backgrounds come to give attendees advice, support and to share their words of wisdom on a range of topics, not to mention the enviable insight of the ‘things I wish I had known’ when I was a junior lawyer.
In 2023 the ‘Welcome To the Law’ subcommittee intends to:
-
- Put on a series of educational seminars similar to previous years;
-
- Engage a wider audience to ensure lawyers and law students know of our presence;
-
- Put on one purely social event to celebrate the series conclusion; and
-
- Widen and strengthen our connections to the law student societies/associations within NSW.
